Kingsbridge occupies the hilly northwestern Bronx between Van Cortlandt Park and the Harlem River, a residential neighborhood with a strong Irish-American and Dominican community. The 1 train runs along Broadway with stops at 231st Street and 238th Street-Nereid Avenue, and the B/D trains stop at Kingsbridge Road. The Metro-North Hudson Line also has a Riverdale stop nearby. Dog walking in Kingsbridge is heavily park-oriented, with Van Cortlandt Park providing the primary destination. Rates are affordable. Summers are pleasant in the park's wooded areas, with the hillside blocks catching breezes. Winters can be cold and windy on the exposed hilltops, but the park's forest trails provide natural windbreaks.
