Jackson Heights is one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the world, a dense residential area in central Queens centered on the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and 74th Street. The neighborhood is architecturally notable for its garden apartment complexes — clusters of six-story co-op buildings surrounding shared private gardens that are unique in New York City. These interior gardens, many lushly planted and gated, provide semi-private green space for residents, though dog policies vary by building. Diversity Plaza at 37th Road is the public gathering space, and Travers Park at 34th Avenue has a fenced dog run that serves as the neighborhood's primary off-leash area.
